Quitting can be a challenge, but you don’t have to do it alone. Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center Cancer offers Geaux Free tobacco cessation counseling services at no cost for people who want to kick the habit. Geaux Free helps you prepare for quitting, manage withdrawal symptoms, identify triggers that create your urges, learn new behavior and skills to help you remain tobacco-free, and develop a support network.

Cancer Center patients and/or their family members can receive one-on-one tobacco cessation counseling at the bedside at Our Lady of the Lake or onsite at Mary Bird Perkins with an appointment. Our Geaux Free program is open to all Cancer Center patients using tobacco or their family members who are exposing the patient to secondhand smoke in their home. There is no cost to patients or family members for this service, which is facilitated by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist.
Free Cessation Medications Available for Long-time Smokers:
Due to a final judgment in a class action lawsuit, Louisiana residents who developed a smoking habit before September 1, 1988 could be eligible for free cessation medications and other services to help break the tobacco addiction. Click here for more information.
