24 in 24 Workout Event Benefits Cancer Center

Experience the “sport of fitness” and help fight cancer at the same time

(Covington, La.) Ready to experience the “sport of fitness” and help fight cancer at the same time? The head over to CrossFit No Surrender is for its third annual 24 in 24 event benefiting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.

The event will run from 9 a.m. June 7 to 10 a.m. June 8 at CrossFit No Surrender, 625 Plaza Drive, Covington.

Every hour on the hour, there will be a different workout of the day (WOD) for a pledge per workout. The programming for the 24 in 24 event reflects the variety of strength, cardio and body weight exercises that make up the CrossFit experience.

Workouts are scalable to all experience levels. A few of the benchmark WODs are designed to gauge progress, while the challenging Hero WODs honor fallen soldiers. There also will be several WODs scheduled with children in mind.

“My dedication to fundraising in support of cancer research is inspired by my younger sister who battled breast cancer several years ago,” said Crossfit No Surrender owner Shane Venezia, who is a former Army Ranger and lifelong fitness enthusiast.

There are multiple ways to support 24 in 24. Stop by or bring a group from your gym for one or more workouts; sponsor a friend; or ask friends, family and coworkers to pay for each workout you complete. For those looking to make a larger donation, there are five sponsor levels ranging from $500 to $10,000.
