Living Well in Southeast Louisiana
People across Southeast Louisiana are invited to take charge of their health by participating in Mary Bird Perkins’ free community prevention, education and early detection events. The Live Well events are returning this year and are taking extra precautions to keep participants safe while continuing to provide life-saving screenings. Here are four things you need to know about this year’s Live Well events, as there are some changes such as appointment scheduling:
Live Well Northshore, hosted by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington, and presented by the Blanchard Foundation, will take place on Oct. 3 at Covington Trailhead.
Live Well Ascension, hosted by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Gonzales, in conjunction with the Gonzales Area Foundation, will be held on Oct. 17 at Jambalaya Park.
Live Well events include cancer screenings for four different types of cancer, including breast, colorectal, prostate and skin. All cancer screenings offered at Live Well events are free. No insurance is required.

While screenings are important in detecting cancer, keeping our participants and staff safe during COVID-19 is just as important. At all Mary Bird Perkins screenings, a number of practices are in place to ensure the safety of everyone, such as increased cleaning frequency and enhanced disinfecting practices for high-touch areas. Screening participants and staff are required to wear facemasks. Click here to learn more about the safety precautions that have been put in place.
