Tree for Life

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC Hosts Holiday Tree for Life Ceremony

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC invites family, friends and supporters to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones and thank caregivers at a special Tree for Life ceremony Thursday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Cancer Center.

Honor your loved ones by dedicating a dove ornament that will be displayed on a holiday tree at the Cancer Center during the month of December. Ornaments may be purchased at the front desk of the Center, or online at mbptgmc.org/tree, with a minimum donation of $10. All doves, including those purchased after the event, will be hung on the tree and will remain on display for the month of December. They may be picked up between Jan. 5-16, 2016 at the Cancer Center.

“The Tree for Life Holiday Ceremony is such a beautiful way for patients, caregivers and community members to recognize a loved one by dedicating an ornament in his/her honor,” said Phyllis Peoples, president and CEO, TGMC. “This event offers a unique way to make a donation, and a difference, during the season of giving.”

Explained Melanie Guilbeaux, Cancer Center director, “The funds raised through Tree for Life will help support early detection and screening programs as well as the Cancer Center’s mission to improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer in the Bayou Region. Participation makes a direct impact on the patients and families we all love.”

Several sponsorships are available for this year’s event and range from $250 – $1,000. For sponsorship information or to purchase a dove, please contact Amy Ponson at (985) 851-8661 or aponson@marybird.com.
