Cancer Center radiation oncologist speaks to cancer survivors, caregivers

Natchez, Miss. – Gregory W. Cotter, M.D., FACRO, radiation oncologist at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Natchez, spoke this week at an event hosted by the Mississippi State Department of Health. Invited by oncologists and cancer support groups, nearly 100 people attended the Sixth Annual Cancer Survivors and Caregivers Educational Conference “Managing Cancer Challenges” free of charge on May 7-8, 2019 at the Hotel Vue in Natchez.

“It was our honor to participate in such a comprehensive event for people who have been affected by cancer,” said Dr. Cotter. “The conversation about cancer is multi-faceted, but it’s crucial for our community to have updated information so that together, we can continue to improve survivorship and lessen the burden of the disease right here in the Natchez area.”

Earlier this year, Caring River Cancer Center (CRCC) merged with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center (MBPCC), a comprehensive cancer care organization that has served the Gulf South region for almost 50 years. As part of the merger, Dr. Cotter, a highly-experienced radiation oncologist and researcher relocated from Olive Branch, Mississippi to join Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Natchez. All patients are continuing to receive care from the facility’s experienced staff members, and Dr. Cotter is currently accepting new patients.
