Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC Celebrates Holidays at Tree for Life Ceremony

Participants Honored Those Affected by Cancer

(Houma, La.) – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC hosted its Tree for Life Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Center. The event was a holiday celebration honoring and remembering all those who have been touched by cancer.

Many patients, family and friends honored loved ones by dedicating ornaments that are currently being hung on Christmas trees at the Cancer Center throughout the Holiday Season. This year’s event raised more than $4,500 where all proceeds will stay in our local community to support early detection and screening programs as well as support our mission to improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer in the Bayou Region.

“Tree for Life was a beautiful celebration of life and we were blessed to have more than 100 guests with us in attendance,” said Amy Ponson, director of development at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. “The Vandebilt Choir sang beautifully and family and friends were able to support our cancer center while honoring loved ones during the season of giving. We want to thank all of those who participated and made our event so beautiful.”

For more information about how you can make a difference in the fight against cancer in our local community, please contact Amy Ponson at (985) 851-8661 or aponson@marybird.com.
