Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center to Provide Free Cancer Screenings to Northshore Community During March

(Covington, La.) – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is providing free, convenient access to a host of cancer screenings during the month of March in the Northshore area. Discovering cancers in their earliest stage through screenings can help lead to better outcomes, making it extremely important for the community to get screened for appropriate cancers.

The Cancer Center is providing free skin and colorectal cancer screenings on Thursday, March 11 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Subaru/Baldwin Motors located at 1730 North Highway 190, Covington, LA 70433.

On Saturday, March 20, the Cancer Center is hosting its annual Geaux Yoga event in Hammond, which includes free breast and skin cancer screenings from 9 – 10 a.m. at Cate Square Park, 279 N. Oak Street, Hammond, LA 70401.

The Cancer Center will also be providing free breast cancer screenings on Tuesday, March 23 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at 2nd & Charles, 401 North US Hwy 190, Covington, LA 70433.

All screenings are available to those who have not been screened for cancer in the past 12 months. Appointments are required for all screenings. To make an appointment, please call (985) 276-6810.

During COVID-19, the Cancer Center has taken steps to ensure the safety of both participants and staff. A number of practices are in place to ensure the safety of everyone, such as increased frequency of our cleaning and disinfecting practices for high-touch areas and appointments for all screenings to ensure social distancing.
