Local Oncology Practice Receives QOPI Certification

Louisiana Hematology Oncology Associates Recognized by Largest Oncology Society in United States

(Baton Rouge, La.) Louisiana Hematology Oncology Associates (LHOA), an outpatient hematology-oncology practice, part of Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group and Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, has received three-year reaccreditation by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program. QOPI is an affiliate of the prestigious American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and this certification is presented to outpatient practices demonstrating the highest standards for quality cancer care.

“Practices that choose to apply for recertification through QOPI demonstrate their continued commitment to the pursuit of clinical care excellence,” said ASCO President Clifford A. Hudis, MD, FACP. “The QOPI Certification Program helps such practices assess the level of care they provide to their patients and demonstrates their commitment to maintaining quality and lifelong learning.”

The QOPI Certification Program is a national ASCO initiative that offers certification to oncology practices that voluntarily meet the rigorous standards for high-quality cancer care. LHOA first achieved QOPI certification in January 2011.

“Our practice is proud to have achieved QOPI reaccreditation because the end result is better patient care,” said Dr. David Hanson, LHOA physician. “This reaccreditation means our standards were measured by experts who, including an onsite review, declared our practice to be in compliance with the quality measures required for excellent patient care.”

Linda Lee, Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake administrator, said that the QOPI certification speaks to the standard of care LHOA patients receive.
“LHOA has always been dedicated to providing the best experience possible for patients,” said Lee. “This reaccreditation underscores their commitment to the community, and especially to oncology patients, to provide the highest quality oncology services. We are proud they are a part of Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group and Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center.”
