Taco de Paco Finds Delicious Way to Support Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center

New Specialty Taco Introduced for MBPCC

(Baton Rouge, La.) Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center (MBPCC) and the two-time “Best of 225” Taco de Paco food truck invite you to join the official launch of a new community partnership for the month of July. Headlined by the introduction of Taco de Paco’s new specialty taco, “The Bird is the Word,” Mary Bird Perkins and Taco de Paco will co-host the launch event Wednesday, July 11, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the center’s administrative offices at Essen Crossing, 5745 Essen Lane, with proceeds benefiting Mary Bird Perkins and the local fight against cancer.

“Funds raised through third-party events such as this one are making a definitive difference in the fight against cancer,” commented Danielle Mack, director of development, MBPCC. “We are truly grateful to Taco de Paco for understanding the far-reaching value of Mary Bird’s mission and choosing to support it.”

Mary Bird Perkins encourages Baton Rouge residents to track down Taco de Paco throughout the remainder of July as Taco de Paco will donate $1 for every signature “The Bird is the Word” taco sold and accept donations on the center’s behalf. To find out where the truck will be each day, tune into the food truck’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and the Taco de Paco website, www.tacodepaco.com.

“Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center meets such a critical need for so many families affected by cancer,” John Snow, co-founder of Taco de Paco, said. “We are proud to again partner with an organization whose mission is so important to our local community.”

Snow explained that from the moment they served up their very first taco, Taco de Paco was driven by a passion to give back to the community that is so supportive of the Baton Rouge food truck revolution.

In December 2010, Mary Bird Perkins and Taco de Paco partnered with Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Bruce Greenstein, resulting in a “win-win situation for everyone involved,” according to Greenstein’s online blog, located at www.myhealthla.org.

“In 2010, we received an overwhelming show of support from the community as a result of our initial partnership with Mary Bird Perkins. When we were presented with the opportunity to build upon this partnership, we knew instantly that the ‘Bird is the Word’ was the way to go,” Snow said. “This is the perfect avenue to both raise money and build awareness for this organization, helping to support the lives Mary Bird Perkins touches in the Baton Rouge area and beyond.”
