‘The Taste’ Creates Excitement

Proceeds Benefit Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center

(Baton Rouge, La.) The buzz is already building for The Taste, the unique and exciting signature event benefitting Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center. Each year The Taste manages to creatively outdo the one preceeding it. For The Taste 2013, think free trip. Think Paris!

“This is always a highly anticipated evening because there are so many enjoyable things going on at once,” said Donna Fraiche, honorary co-chair along with her husband John F. Fraiche, MD. “Everyone has a  lot of fun supporting a very serious cause – the fight against cancer.”

The Taste Co-chairs are Gretchen Petersen and Lindsay Chustz Guerin. This year’s festive evening, presented by Lousiana Lottery Corporation, will be Thursday, April 11, 6:30 – 9:30 pm in the Capital Atrium of the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel, sponsor of this extraordinary venue.

Featured will be tastings from Baton Rouge’s premier restaurants and caterers; a fabulous silent auction; an incredible raffle for a dream trip to Paris, France for two – courtesy of Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry; and several additional spirited attactions.

As a unique part of the silent auction, guests will again be entertained by an Artists’ Show-Off, presented by Team Toyota & Team Honda, featuring the amazing talent of two celebrated artists. This year, artists Julie Dupre Buckner and Terri Dakmak will be given the same concept to interpret based on the event theme. The paintings will be available for silent auction bidding during the evening.

“Proceeds from ticket and auction sales will help provide vital treatment services for those who otherwise could not afford them,” said Danielle Mack, development director, Mary Bird Perkins. ”This includes free community education and cancer screenings for medically underserved populations, and transportation services for patients who need help getting to their treatments.”

Tickets for The Taste are $100 each which includes tastings and cocktails. For additional information, please contact Danielle Mack at (225) 215-1248 or dmack@marybird.com.
