Scott W. Soleau M.D.
Baton Rouge Staff
Dr. Scott W. Soleau’s passion for medicine started at a young age. Before receiving his medical degree from The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, he earned his undergraduate degree with “Highest Distinction in the field of Neuroscience” as part of the university’s prestigious Distinguished Majors Program. Dr. Soleau earned his medical degree as a UVA Cavalier before moving to The University of Utah where he completed his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency. Dr. Soleau continued his neurosurgical training with a pair of one-year fellowships—the first in Pediatric Neurosurgery at The University of Alabama Birmingham from 2003-2004, and the second in adult complex spine surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin from 2004-2005.
Dr. Soleau joined The NeuroMedical Center in 2005 and is a proud member of many professional organizations including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. While highly experienced in the surgical treatment of all brain and spinal conditions, Dr. Soleau still views surgery as a treatment of last resort. He strongly encourages, helps and empowers his patients to explore the multitude of nonoperative treatment options that exist for their particular condition prior to recommending surgery.
He believes in the importance of personally meeting with each and every one of his patients and their families in order to serve as an expert advisor in the sometimes difficult and confusing process of medical decision-making.
Dr. Soleau is board certified in neurological surgery and specializes in complex spine surgery-cervical & lumbar, cranial surgery, carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve.
