In 2009, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center established its Gonzales location, offering state-of-the-art radiation oncology services. Over the past decade, Ascension Parish has not only experienced significant growth but also faced disproportionately high rates of cancer incidence, surpassing the state average.
