Inaugural yoga event promises fun, exercise and relaxation for the whole family
(Hammond, La.) Bring your yoga mats, appetite and zen as Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center hosts the first Geaux Yoga event on April 27 at Cate Square Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include a relaxing yoga class led by Downtown Yoga, food bites by Cate St. Seafood Station and Sysco, fruit from Berry Town Produce, smoothies from Smoothie King and juice from The Big Squeezy. The event will offer something for all ages, including kids’ activities with Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center, information from a nutritionist about healthy eating, chair massages from Geaux Chiro, and a sun safety station with sunscreen. Free skin cancer screenings will be provided by the Cancer Center, and all proceeds benefit patients and support services in Hammond.
Erica Kelt, director of development for the Cancer Center, is passionate about the impact Geaux Yoga will have in the community.
“This event is a great way to introduce people to yoga while raising funds to directly support local cancer patients and their families,” said Kelt.
Tickets for Geaux Yoga are $25, and a limited number of VIP spots are $100. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Proceeds from Geaux Yoga will help transform cancer care by advancing prevention, research, survivorship, innovation, teamwork and patient assistance at the Cancer Center.
