Fight Cancer While Eating Cake!

The Ambrosia Bakery and Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center Community Partnership

(Baton Rouge, La.) During July, The Ambrosia Bakery at 8546 Siegen Lane is donating $2 from every sale of Ambrosia’s signature fresh strawberry cake to Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center.  Funds raised will help fight cancer in the local community. Additionally, for a donation of $2 or more, customers will receive a card redeemable for a complimentary pastry of their choice.

“We are so excited about this community partnership in honor of our employee, cancer survivor Dora Phillips,” said Felix Sherman, Jr., Ambrosia Bakery co-owner. “Ms. Phillips was treated at the Cancer Center shortly after she came to Baton Rouge following Hurricane Katrina and began working at the bakery. This partnership is very meaningful to us.”

One hundred percent of all proceeds will go to support free cancer screenings, early detection and prevention programs, clinical trials and life-saving cancer care close to home. For a list of free screenings, visit .

“It is only through community philanthropy and partnerships that Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center can provide many programs and services to the Baton Rouge community,” said Danielle Mack, director of development. “We are privileged to work with passionate supporters such as The Ambrosia Bakery to make a difference.”
