Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Board of Directors Elects New Members

Leadership Elected to Help Carry Out Mission of the Center

 

(Baton Rouge, La.) At the April 2012 Board of Directors meeting of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, new volunteer leadership was elected to help carry out the mission of the Center. As a nonprofit community-owned cancer center, Mary Bird Perkins is governed by a volunteer board of directors.

“Community leaders and volunteers started Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center more than 40 years ago,” said the organization’s President and CEO, Todd Stevens. “Each time new volunteers are elected to the board, we look forward to benefitting from their perspective and expertise to help perpetuate Mary Bird’s mission to improve survivorship and lessen the burden of cancer.”

Board members newly elected for three-year terms include Alice Greer, community volunteer; John F. Smith, consultant; and David A. Winkler, Faulk & Winkler. Dudley W. Coates, Legg Mason Wood Walker (retired); G. Lee Griffin, LSU Foundation; and Bill O’Quin, Financial Services Online, were re-elected for additional three-year terms. Gail O’Quin, self-employed, Chair, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center Foundation, will serve as an ex-officio board member.

Officers for 2012-2013 include Chair, Donna M. Saurage, community volunteer; Vice Chair, Tom J. Meek, Jr., M.D., The Dermatology Clinic; Secretary, Brett P. Furr, Taylor Porter, Attorneys at Law; and Immediate Past Chair/Treasurer, J. Gerard Jolly, KPMG LLP.

D. Randolph Waeshe, Resource Management, Inc., was named Director Emeritus for his years of service on the board, most recently as Treasurer.

 

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is a regional cancer care organization that has been fighting cancer for more than 40 years. With five centers in Baton Rouge, Covington, Hammond, Houma and Gonzales, its service area encompasses 18 parishes across southeast Louisiana.
