Depart for International-themed Event to Transform Cancer Care

Funds raised from Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center and Cancer Services joint event to help area cancer patients, families

(Baton Rouge, La.)  Grab your passports this September and prepare to take flight – all while helping individuals and families in the community impacted by cancer. The Gala Goes Global is Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center and Cancer Services’ combined annual fundraiser, set for Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Hosted at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, the event will be the premier party to kick off the fall season, featuring global cuisine from Baton Rouge’s favorite eateries, tasty spirits, silent and live auctions, entertainment, free Uber rides presented by Performance Contractors, plus more.

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center joined forces with Cancer Services last year to serve more people and most efficiently put donor dollars to work in helping anyone in the area touched by cancer. Last year’s inaugural event not only sold out, but was commended by many as one of the city’s top charity events of the year, raising nearly a half-million dollars.

Ethan Bush, vice president and chief development officer at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and Whitney Craig, Director of Cancer Services, agree they are looking forward to advancing the mission of both organizations through this event, which are focused exclusively on cancer.

“All funds raised at The Gala will enable both organizations to serve every cancer patient in a much larger and more impactful way,” said Bush. “This event exemplifies incredible collaboration and allows both entities to serve the needs of cancer patients and families in our community.”

Event tickets are $125 apiece and a limited number of tickets for the exclusive “see and be seen” VIP Sky Lounge Experience before and during The Gala are $100. The exclusive VIP Sky Lounge, presented by GMFS Mortgage in the elite Club 38 at L’Auberge, features a unique whiskey tasting experience sponsored by Calandro’s Supermarket. All proceeds will help transform cancer care by advancing the Cancer Center and Cancer Services’ missions.

“This event enables longtime supporters of both organizations to continue ensuring we meet the growing supportive care needs of local cancer patients and their families,” said Craig. “In uniting our services in the cancer community, we are able to stretch all donor dollars as far as possible and assist patients served by cancer centers throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area.”

Event attendees and even those unable to attend The Gala can purchase a Passport to Italy raffle ticket, presented by Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry. This one-of-a-kind raffle features a five-day trip to Venice with airfare and hotel included, a trip to the Marco Bicego Jewelry Factory in neighboring Trissino, plus a $2,500 shopping spree at Lee Michaels for Marco Bicego products. Raffle tickets are $100 apiece and the drawing will take place during The Gala. Winner need not be present to win.

Major Gala Goes Global event partners include: L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, Diamond Sponsor; GMFS Mortgage and Louisiana Lottery, Platinum Sponsors; Capital One and Performance Contractors, Gold Sponsors.

The official Gala Goes Global print media partners are 225 Magazine, InRegister and Baton Rouge Business Report.
