Untie the Ribbons is a free community event to educate, enlighten, and empower the community on the impact of early detection on health outcomes in an effort to reduce mortality in African Americans.
Men and women 35 and above, specifically African Americans are encouraged to attend and learn more about early detection as well as genetics, family history and their link to cancer. Survivors are also asked to attend to share their personal experiences with cancer.
Participants will be educated on family history and its link cancer, and how they can reduce their risk – thus improving their quality of life and reducing mortality. This will be done through presentations from medical experts and survivors. Other health vendors will be onsite to provide additional health information.
Light breakfast and refreshments will be served. Cooking demos and educational vendors will be included as part of the event. Door prizes will be given put throughout the day. To-go lunch will be served at the conclusion of the event.
