Louisiana Lottery Wants Everyone to Win in the Health Game
The Louisiana Lottery Corporation is known for fun and giving people a chance to win big, but when it comes to health, they make it clear that all bets are off.
A longtime supporter of both Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Cancer Services, the Louisiana Lottery has donated more than $185,000 to enhance cancer care over the years. Most recently, the organization served as a key sponsor of
The Gala Goes Gatsby
, the inaugural fundraising event that raised $475,000 to support the Cancer Center and Cancer Services.

Louisiana Lottery President and CEO Rose Hudson and her team take action by volunteering, as well. Standing by the Cancer Center’s commitment to providing quality care and screenings, Rose’s connection became even more personal when her father was touched by cancer. She has been a dedicated Cancer Center volunteer for more than ten years, serving two successful terms on the Board of Directors. Recently named an Emeritus Board Member, she continues to lead by example and challenges others to step up to the plate. Her long history of community service through executive leadership on boards also includes Woman’s Hospital, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
In addition to the Lottery’s support of the Cancer Center, it also contributes to local events and organizations through community involvement and sponsorships. The programs, events, and others that benefit from the Lottery’s generosity range from healthcare and
cancer prevention
to culture, recreation, and the arts. In the past year alone, the Lottery has sponsored more than 140 charitable community events hosted by organizations that have touched the lives of more than 2.8 million Louisianans. And since its inception, the Lottery has transferred 35% of every dollar generated in ticket sales to state funds dedicated to K-12 public education in Louisiana, for a total of more than $3.5 billion.
The Lottery’s approach to philanthropy as a whole and cancer care in particular demonstrates just how much they’re in it to win it. Check out
