Puttin’ on the Ritz for Patients

Going Back in Time

Ever dream of traveling back in time to the 1920s during the Jazz Age, full of glitz and glam, rivers of champagne and big band music? Now you can at The Gala Goes Gatsby, the event of the century, quickly becoming the talk of the town, is Thursday, September 13, so ladies, grab your finest flapper dress and gentlemen, your most debonair suit and enjoy the roaring festivities – all while helping those right here in our community who have been impacted by cancer.

Proceeds Benefit to Key Cancer-Focused Organizations

The Gala Goes Gatsby is a brand new event benefiting patients and families both at Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center and Cancer Services. This is the organizations’ first combined annual fundraiser, and as always, one hundred percent of the proceeds stay local to help your friends and neighbors.

“At the Cancer Center, we wrap patients with every resource they need to fight cancer, and it all starts with the community’s generous support of events like this,” said Ethan Bush, vice president and chief development officer at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.

Proceeds from the jazzy affair will further Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center’s key support services for patients and their families. The Cancer Center not only provides patient navigation and survivorship services for those with cancer, but also prevention and early detection services that help others in the community catch cancer early or stop the disease before it even starts.

Because the Cancer Center merged with Cancer Services earlier this year, proceeds will also benefit all cancer patients in the community – no matter where they’re treated. The generosity of the community allows Cancer Services to provide children and adults affected by cancer with free medical supplies, wigs, counseling, nutritional supplements and even exciting kids’ camp experiences designed especially for young cancer patients and family members.

“Cancer Services offers emotional, financial and physical support for everyone affected by cancer in the community,” said Whitney Craig, director at Cancer Services. “Funds from the Gala Goes Gatsby will ensure we keep important programs like these going strong.”
