Today, Hillary Lanaux would be 38 years old. While she passed away in 2001 due to an aggressive soft-tissue cancer, her memory lives on in a powerful way through a transformational donation to the Cancer Center made by her grandparents, Hilaire and Ethel Lanaux.
This gift will fund prevention, education and early detection programs in the Covington and Houma areas where more than 3,500 people each year are diagnosed with cancer. Mary Bird Perkins’ mobile medical clinic, in partnership with St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Terrebonne General Medical Center, travels throughout the Covington and Houma areas and beyond, screening people for breast, colorectal, skin, oral and prostate cancers.
Learn more about the Lanauxs, Hillary and her relationship with the unconventional, but loved medical oncologist Dr. Saux and how he continues to serve as a physician and close friend to the family.
