Following the conclusion of the sessions, the day will be rounded out with an evening social which will feature members of our team and the Investor Collective, a committed group of men passionate about advancing quality care and men’s health initiatives. All proceeds benefit Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Metairie.

Bios

Dr. Constance Blunt is a Hematologist and Oncologist and also serves as the medical director for Mary Bird Perkins’ nationally-recognized Prevention on the Go program. She is a graduate of Baylor University located in Waco, Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine at Texas A&M Health Science Center in Temple, Texas. In 2018, she completed her Hematology and Oncology fellowship at LSU Heath Science Center. She is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. She has been with Mary Bird Perkins since 2022.

Dr. Mindy Williams Bowie is a Breast Surgical Oncologist at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she specializes in breast cancer surgeries. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Bowie earned her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Master of Science degrees from Louisiana State University. She continued her education at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, completing medical school in 2004 and a general surgery residency in 2009. She then completed a Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. 

Dr. Lauren Zatarain is a medical oncologist in Baton Rouge. She received her undergraduate degrees in Biological Sciences and Spanish from Louisiana State University. She was awarded Sophomore Honors Distinction in the Honors College. She received her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed her internal medicine residency and served as chief resident at Louisiana State University – Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Zatarain accepted a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology and served as chief fellow at Vanderbilt University. She currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center – Baton Rouge. 

Maeghan Jacob, LCSW-BACS, OSW-C, is the director of patient navigation and support services at Mary Bird Perkins, overseeing navigation teams and initiatives across the network. She is focused on expanding navigation services, particularly in the newest clinics in Metairie and CENLA. Maeghan joined Mary Bird Perkins in 2021 as a social worker, later moving into management in 2022, supporting navigation teams in Slidell, Hammond and Covington before stepping into her current leadership role in October 2024. As a Baton Rouge native, Maeghan earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Social Work from LSU. She is a proud member of the Northshore Echo Alliance.  

Cheryl Michelet is the CEO and founder of Michelet Strategic Communications and most recently served as the director of communications for BREC, the East Baton Rouge Parish Park system. She retired after nearly thirteen years of service and was responsible for writing the award applications that won the agency the prestigious national Gold Medal as well as national awards for marketing, programming and excellence in conservation efforts. She is active in numerous professional and community organizations as well as in her church. Cheryl is a breast cancer survivor who credits the staff at Mary Bird Perkins with saving her life during the pandemic. She serves on Mary Bird’s Community Advisory Board and has been a donor to the Echo Alliance since its founding three years ago.
