TACKLING THE DOSIMETRIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL CHALLENGES IN FLASH RADIATION THERAPY
Abstract:
FLASH radiation therapy represents a groundbreaking advancement in cancer treatment, characterized by its ultra-high dose rate delivery. However, there are several key roadblocks that need to be addressed to fully realize the potential of FLASH RT and for its safe translation into the clinic. In this seminar, we will explore the fundamental principles of FLASH radiation therapy, the dosimetric challenges and potential solutions to achieve the required dosimetric accuracy, and the technological advancements within radiation therapy delivery systems and beam control that are needed to handle FLASH RT’s unique requirements.
