Blake Blancher, M.D., joins Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center

Baton Rouge, La. – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is pleased to announce that Blake Blancher, M.D., has joined the cancer center’s medical staff in Covington and Slidell.

Blancher obtained his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his Master of Science in Biology from Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. He earned his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport.

He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He then pursued a fellowship in hematology and clinical oncology at Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple, Tx.

Blancher has been a member of several honorary and professional societies, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, and the Bell County Medical Society. He was chief resident during his time at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, and was named intern of the year at the college in 2019. He is certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Blancher is a Northshore native and graduate of Mandeville High School who is returning to his community after nearly two decades away. He is excited to serve the community where he grew up.

Blancher will work at Mary Bird Perkins’ Covington and Slidell locations. The Cancer Center’s Slidell location recently began offering infusion services, further expanding treatment options for Northshore area patients.
