Latest effort to provide state-of-the-art cancer care closer to home for more Northshore patients
SLIDELL, La. – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is announcing the opening of an additional location in St. Tammany Parish with a new medical oncology clinic at 1570 Lindberg Drive, Suite 12 in Slidell, Louisiana.
The Slidell location will complement the Cancer Center’s Covington presence, providing an additional option for patients to receive comprehensive cancer care in a convenient, familiar environment.
“Expanding our medical oncology services to Slidell means more patients will have the opportunity to stay closer to home and to their support systems while undergoing cancer treatment,” said Mike Miranda, administrator, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington. “Allowing residents to reduce their travel time in a comfortable, but high-quality setting can have a positive impact on outcomes.”
Faizan I. Malik, M.D., medical oncologist, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, is now accepting patients at the Slidell location. To make an appointment with Malik, call (985) 875-5333.
Malik, who also practices in Covington, completed his undergraduate degree in pre-medicine at the National Science College before he received his medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Pakistan. Dr. Malik completed two clinical rotations at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Fox Chase Cancer Center. He also completed a residency in hematology oncology at Abington Jefferson Health in Pennsylvania, where he later became a teaching hospitalist and earned the Eleanor Dixon Award for research.
