“Making sure you are up to date on your routine, annual cancer screenings is the best way to detect cancer as early as possible, potentially improving outcomes,” said Cryshel Richard, regional manager, early detection and education, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. “We encourage residents to take advantage of the convenience and comfortability provided by our mobile medical units without having to leave their community.”

Through the use of the Cancer Center’s mobile medical clinics, the Mary Bird Perkins team travels throughout Louisiana, and since 2020, Southwest Mississippi, to serve thousands of participants each year. These events are supported by local partners to provide residents with greater access to cancer screenings.

Natchez is home to one of 10 Mary Bird Perkins locations throughout Louisiana and southwest Mississippi. In 2019, the organization assumed responsibility for the Cancer Center to expand its level of care for patients across the region. Through this transition, residents across Adams County and in surrounding communities have gained access to Mary Bird Perkins’ extensive and precise radiation oncology treatments, early detection services and supportive care.

The facility recently underwent a $300,000 renovation, completed in 2022, providing interior and exterior enhancements that allow patients to receive the advanced care that has been a hallmark of Mary Bird Perkins for more than 50 years.
