(Covington, La.) – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Covington is providing free, convenient access to a host of cancer screenings during the month of May. Discovering cancers in their earliest stage through screenings can help lead to better outcomes, making it extremely important for the community to get screened for appropriate cancers.
Skin cancer screenings and colorectal screening kits will be provided on Thursday, May 6, 10 p.m. – 2 p.m., Shops of 21, 69305 Hwy. 21, Covington, LA 70433.
In addition, breast cancer screenings and colorectal screening kits will also be provided on Wednesday, May 26, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Rouses, 50 Park Place Drive, Covington, LA 70433.
All screenings and colorectal screening kits are available to those who have not been screened in the past 12 months. Screening mammograms will be available for women 40 and older who have not received a mammogram in the last 12 months.
In addition, free breast exams will be performed by a clinician for women 18 and older. Registration is required for all screenings. To register, please call

During COVID-19, the Cancer Center has taken steps to ensure the safety of both participants and staff. A number of practices are in place to ensure the safety of everyone, such as increased frequency of our cleaning and disinfecting practices for high-touch areas and appointments for all screenings to ensure social distancing.
