(Monroe, La.) – Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation and Louisiana Cancer Foundation, is providing free, convenient access to breast and colorectal cancer screenings during the month of February. Discovering cancers in their earliest stage through screenings can help lead to better outcomes, making it extremely important for the community to get screened for appropriate cancers.
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s Prevention on the Go program will be providing breast cancer screenings on February 18 and 19 at the Northeast LA Cancer Institute at 411 Calypso St., Monroe, LA 71201. Screenings will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and from 1-4 p.m. and on Friday, Feb. 19 from 7-11:30 a.m. Colorectal cancer testing kits will also be distributed to anyone 45-years-old or older. Â
All screenings are available to those who have not been screened for cancer in the past 12 months. Appointments are required for all screenings. To make an appointment, please call (888) 616-4687.
During COVID-19, the Cancer Center has taken steps to ensure the safety of both participants and staff. A number of practices are in place to ensure the safety of everyone, such as increased frequency of our cleaning and disinfecting practices for high-touch areas and appointments for all screenings to ensure social distancing.
