Flowers to Fight Cancer

Pugh’s Florist joins Geaux Pink efforts

(Baton Rouge, La.) Pugh’s Florist is joining the fight against cancer with more than flower power. Beginning in October and continuing through Sept. 2014, Pugh’s Florist is donating $2 from every sale of a signature Geaux Pink arrangement to Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center.  Funds raised will help fight cancer in the Baton Rouge area.

“We are excited to partner with the Cancer Center in honor of our employee, cancer survivor Laura Aswell,” said Irwin Pugh, owner of Pugh’s Florist.  “As a locally-owned company, it is with great enthusiasm that we support the fight against cancer right here in our community. We know these funds will help provide early detections programs and cancer support services for many of our customers, friends and neighbors fighting for their lives.”

One hundred percent of all funds raised will support free cancer screenings, early detection and prevention programs, clinical trials and life-saving cancer care close to home.  For a list of free screenings, please visit marybird.org/calendar-of-events.

“It is a privilege to work with such passionate supporters as we kick off Geaux Pink in October,” said Hallie Thompson, associate director of development at the Cancer Center. “Because of the generosity of Pugh’s Florist and other local partners, we are able to provide the community with programs and services that otherwise would not be possible. Center patients are able to get the very best care right here, at home.”
