Mary Bird Perkins Honors Rathbone Society Members
Annual Dinner Held
(Baton Rouge, La.)
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s (MBP) annual Rathbone Society Dinner recognizes the organization’s most supportive donors and provides a venue to thank them for their incredible generosity. This year’s event, held September 29 at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center, was the concluding celebration of Mary Bird Perkins’ 40
th
anniversary year. “Tonight we celebrate you, your commitment to the fight against cancer and the difference you have made in countless lives,” Todd Stevens, CEO and president, MBP, told the more than 150 Rathbone Society donors present at the dinner. Board Chair, Donna Saurage, recounted the numerous milestones achieved during the 40
th
anniversary year. She cited the incredible support of those in attendance and the many others who have supported the Center since it first opened its doors. Pointing out that there are now five Mary Bird locations across southeast Louisiana where 25 percent of the state’s population resides, Saurage said, “One quarter of our state’s population can receive high quality cancer care close to home, near family and friends, without driving more than 30 miles.” At the conclusion of Stevens’ address, attendees were invited to stay and celebrate the evening by dancing to the music of Ned Fasullo and The Fabulous Big Band Orchestra. A 40
th
anniversary ruby red sweet treats candy bar delighted everyone as they filled take-out boxes with their favorite candies.
