New Feature at Mary Bird Perkins Taste of the Tournament
Artist’s Show-Off
(Baton Rouge, La.)
An exciting new feature at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s “Taste of the Tournament Par-Tee and Auction” on Thursday, April 19, 6:30 p.m. is an Artist’s Show-Off showcasing the amazing talent of celebrated artists Sarah Griffith and Liz Walker Poe. Both artists will paint onsite during the event in the Capital Atrium at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino & Hotel, providing interpretations of a subject selected by event guests and supporters. Be a part of this exciting inaugural feature and bid on one of these great masterpieces! Sarah Griffith is a contemporary artist known throughout the country for her vivid use of color, form and her interpretation of life’s experiences. This Baton Rouge native is a self-taught contemporary artist with a background in landscape and still life paintings. She has emerged into a well-known mixed media artist who incorporates acrylics and some metallic gold, silver or copper leaf with a rich oil overlay. Her work can be seen in stores such as Neiman Marcus, Z Gallerie and Horchow. Griffith has also been featured in several art exhibitions, collections and publications in the Southeast region. . With passion that extends for over 20 years, Liz Walker Pou began painting when she was just nine years old. Her main interest was realism, but that soon became mixed with abstract style. This combination can be found in some of her more recent paintings, which she says allows creativity to be expressed in both areas of art. Pou draws her inspiration from her family’s love and support and cherishes each day that she gets to pursue her dream. Her work is displayed in many local specialty stores and exclusive salons. . One of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s largest fundraisers, also featured at this event will be fabulous cuisine from Baton Rouge’s premier restaurants and caterers, musical entertainment by the V-Tones, and a fabulous silent auction. Tickets for the Taste of the Tournament Par-Tee and Auction are $100 each, or $175 per couple before April 1. Proceeds from ticket and auction sales will help many people in need by providing:
Life-saving cancer treatment services for those who otherwise could not afford it.
Free community education and cancer screenings for medically underserved populations.
Vital transportation services for patients who need help getting to their treatments.
