Benefits of Home Gala Raises Nearly $200,000 for Cancer Center

Benefits of Home Gala a Success.

The 2014 Benefits of Home Gala benefiting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital raised more than $170,000 – funds that stay local to provide services for those who otherwise could not afford them, such as free community education and cancer screenings, nutritional supplements and transportation assistance.

More than $500,000 has been raised through Benefits of Home for the local fight against cancer during the past three years.

This year’s event, held at Franco’s Health Club and Spa in Mandeville on Aug. 21, was sponsored by Hub International, Humana and Franco’s. Guests enjoyed an evening of food offerings from local chefs, live jazz music and a live auction.

Jan and Gus Kuntz won the raffle’s main prize, which was a ride for two in the Krewe of Orpheus’s 2015 parade, two tickets to the Orpheuscapade Ball in the Morial Convention Center and a two-night stay in New Orleans.

The Greater Northshore President’s Council would like to thank everyone who helped organize and support this year’s fun-filled and successful event.
