Andrew Elson, M.D. Joins Cancer Center Medical Staff
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of radiation oncologist Andrew Elson, M.D. to its medical staff.
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of radiation oncologist Andrew Elson, M.D. to its medical staff. Dr. Elson is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. He earned a Medical Doctorate from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, IA and completed a preliminary year internal medicine residency at Tulane University Hospitals and Clinics in New Orleans, LA, and a radiation oncology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Elson has also completed research fellowships at the University of Iowa Department of Radiology in Iowa City, IA and at the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of South Dakota School of Medicine in Vermillion, SD. “We are proud to welcome Dr. Elson to the Cancer Center,” said Charles Wood, M.D., medical director of radiation oncology at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. “Through his knowledge of the latest cancer treatment strategies, he will help to continue advancing world-class medicine in this community-based setting. It’s important for people to know they can receive the best care right here in Covington.”
Radiation oncology is a medical specialty using various forms of radiation in treating cancer.
