Many Cancer Survivors Attend Annual Celebration
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital hosted a picnic June 6 for cancer survivors, their family members, caregivers, supporters and healthcare professionals.
In observance of National Cancer Survivors Day, June 1, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital hosted a picnic June 6 for cancer survivors, their family members, caregivers, supporters and healthcare professionals. Over 300 people gathered to celebrate the many patients who have battled, or are currently battling, the disease. Guests enjoyed lunch provided by Mugshots Grill & Bar. Also available were snowballs, face painting and a bounce house to add to the festivities. YaYa Dj and Productions entertained attendees; the disc jockey is a cancer survivor and former patient of the Cancer Center. “This event is spectacular for patients, their families and the Cancer Center staff,” said Rob Leonhard, Cancer Center administrator. “Our organization is fueled by our extremely brave patients, and they inspire the staff to deliver the very best care possible.” Photo caption: Mike Miranda, Dr. R Scott Bermudez, Theresa Bolleter, Kara McSpaddin and Natalie Mental, LPN Visit www.marybird.org/STPH to learn more about how you can help support the local fight against cancer.
