(Covington, La.) Robert A. Leonhard Jr. has been named cancer center administrator for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He will be responsible for the ongoing development and operations of the comprehensive cancer center.

“Combining our broad range of cancer services last year was a first step in delivering on our promise to patients in west St. Tammany,” Kerry Milton, chief nursing officer and cancer center leadership team member, said. “And introduction of Rob as administrator this year truly takes us to the next level. His expertise makes him our ideal choice to lead this center as we deliver comprehensive cancer services, close to home on the Northshore.”

Leonhard is an experienced professional with over 20 years of senior leadership and consulting experience with special emphasis on fiscal, resource and operational management. Over the years he has held the role of CEO/COO for several specialty hospitals throughout New Orleans and Ohio. He joins the Cancer Center from LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center where he was a Quality Improvement Manager with oversight of all quality improvement projects associated with a multi-organization project.

“Leading this comprehensive center is a bit of a homecoming for me,” Leonhard said. “I’m thrilled to be back among friends and family on the Northshore; but more than that, I’m excited to lead this team of accomplished and caring oncology professionals.”

Leonhard received his Bachelor of Science degree in Cardiopulmonary Sciences from Louisiana State University’s School of Allied Health Professions, and his Master of Business Administration from Tulane University’s A.B.
