4th Annual Fakier Open Benefiting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC Coming in April
(Houma, La.)
–
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC and Fakier Jewlers are excited to announce the 4
th
Annual Fakier Open, benefiting Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC (MBPCC at TGMC), will take place April 22-26 at Ellendale Country Club. The event will feature a professional golf tournament with the Adams Pro Tour. “The Fakier Open has grown dramatically over the past few years and has been a great asset to our community, raising important funds to keep our local community members here at home when fighting cancer,” said Amy Ponson, director of development, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. “Fakier Jewelers and all of our sponsors are key to making this event a huge success. We look forward to another great year and of raising more funds to support our mission of improving survivorship and lessening the burden of cancer.” Proceeds from the tournament benefit Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC and help provide free cancer screenings throughout the Bayou Region for breast, prostate, skin, oral and colorectal cancers. In 2013, MBPCC at TGMC held 54 free screenings and screened more than 1,200 people. The Taste of the Tournament Par-Tee and Auction, the tournament’s signature party, will be held on Friday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature some of the area’s most delicious local cuisine, music and a large silent auction selection. Tickets are $50/person and are available for purchase online at marybird.org/fakier or call (985) 851-8661. The Pro-Am takes place Tuesday, April 22 in the form of a four-man shamble. Each team is comprised of three amateur golfers and a professional from the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series. Wednesday, April 23 through Saturday, April 26 is the Fakier Open professional tournament featuring Adams Pro Tour players. A free junior clinic for kids ages 6 – 16 is scheduled for Friday, April 25 in association with Adams Pro Tour professionals, weather permitting. Sponsorship and team opportunities are still available. For more information on any of these events, please contact Amy Ponson at (985) 851-8661 or
