Nicholls to host Geaux Pink softball game Saturday

May 4 at the Colonel Softball Complex

  (Thibodaux, La.) – The Nicholls State University softball team will host its annual Geaux Pink Strike Out Cancer Game against McNeese State University on Saturday, May 4 at the Colonel Softball Complex. Proceeds will benefit Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. The Colonels will wear pink jerseys to help raise breast cancer awareness, and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game as well. There will be T-shirts for sale, a silent auction and face painting for kids. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC’s mobile medical unit – the Early Bird – will be at the game for tours as well. Before the game, Nicholls Athletics Hall of Fame member Scott Sanders and local cancer survivors will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. “We are thrilled to partner with the Nicholls softball team,” said Amy Ponson, director of development for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. “It’s inspiring to see young women and their coaches getting involved in our local community and the fight against breast cancer.” Proceeds will be used for free cancer screenings, patient support services and clinical research.
