(Houma, La.)
Members of Nosotros (Spanish for
we
or
us
) – a support group for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers – hosted an inaugural fundraiser to benefit Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC. The group held a very successful karaoke night and jambalaya dinner Saturday, April 5, raising $2,000. A check was presented at the Center on May 1 at 1 p.m. “We have a wonderfully caring group,” said support group participant and wife of cancer survivor, Libbi Moore. “We wanted to do something that would directly help those in our community dealing with this disease.”
Led by medical oncologist Dr. Raul Doria, the support group meets in the first floor conference room of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. For more information, please call (983) 857- 8093.
