Untie the Ribbons is a free community event to educate, enlighten, and empower the community on the impact of obesity on breast and colorectal cancer in an effort to reduce mortality in African Americans.
Men and women 35 and above, specifically African Americans are encouraged to attend and learn more about obesity and its link to breast and colorectal cancers. Survivors of these cancers are also asked to attend to share their personal experiences.
Participants will be educated on obesity and its link to breast and colorectal cancer, and how they can reduce their risk- thus improving their quality of life and reducing mortality. This will be done through presentations from medical experts and survivors. Other health vendors will be onsite to provide additional health information.
Light breakfast and refreshments will be served. Cooking demos and educational vendors will be included as part of the event. Door prizes will be given put throughout the day.
