Dr. J. Christian Winters is a urologist at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Metairie, specializing in reconstructive urology, including the evaluation and treatment of bladder dysfunction, especially after prior cancer treatments. He also specializes in urinary incontinence, bladder compliance abnormalities, and urodynamics. Dr. Winters brings decades of clinical, academic and leadership experience to Mary Bird Perkins and patients across the region.
Dr. Winters is a nationally recognized urologist with more than 30 years of experience in academic medicine, clinical care and healthcare leadership. A native of New Orleans, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, graduating in 1984, and his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1988.
Board-certified by the American Board of Urology, Winters is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has received numerous honors for his contributions to urology and medical education, including being elected as the president of the American Board of Urology, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction and the Distinguished Contribution Award from the American Urological Association.
